THE JOURNAL WITH CREATIVE LICENSE
By [MTWRITER]
April 2008

From inspiration comes expression,
and the resulting permutations can be endless:
According to the outline of The Philippines,
Juan Luna painted the lady in his Parisian Life;
Edvard Munch once walked by the Oslo fjord of his
native Norway at sunset and painted his iconic The Scream.

Let the inspiration be the expression,
and the result will be twice as meaningful.
Marge Defensor-Manalaysay,
whose love for journals recently created the
Children’s Journal Book,
hopes that her artful journals will inspire and contain
the creativity of children and creative people.

As the debut product of her Design Company–
MDM DESIGN,
what defines the 8”x8” hardbound journal are her artworks,
which in their subjects, colors and patterns
speak of her inspiration for this journal–
love, nature and pride for Philippine biodiversity–
and of her life-long commitment & support to
Children’s Environmental Awareness and Action Foundation
(CEAAF), which aims to promote environmental awareness
and alternative education among the youth.

“With the fast-paced media, we become inactive
and forget to give value to our own thoughts and reflections”,
she admits.
“Hopefully, the Children’s Journal Book will change that.”

With her illustrations, Marge hopes the journal will serve as a
blank canvas for unique outputs of creative thought,
where lined pages are used for creative journaling or literary writing,
blank pages for sketching, doodling & cartooning,
graphed pages for portrait drawing and handwriting,
or half blank + lined pages for story boards.

It is there for people to experience it
in as many diverse ways as possible,
because from different inspirations...
come different expressions.
